A central focus of the Howard E. Stark Charitable Foundation is on funding small, passionate, local, well-run organizations that work to relieve the suffering of people in need.

The organizations we fund typically:

  • offer program services in the Northeast US
  • have less than $1m assets and limited government funding
  • are limited in their fundraising activities

Local Human Needs Organizations that we support might be:

    • Food Pantries
    • Community Kitchens
    • Homeless Transition Programs
    • Survival Centers
    • Young Mother Programs
    • General Operation Funds
    • In-Kind Donations
    • Match Grant Opportunities

Failure to meet all of the criteria will not automatically result in the denial of a grant application. We take the time to review every application and its supporting documentation to determine if it is right fit for us and the applying tax exempt organization. We do grant funds to a wide array of organizations, but our main focus is on food pantries, community kitchens, animal welfare, and local Massachusetts organizations.
